A special thank you to Harlequin MIRA and NetGalley for a complimentary reading copy in exchange for an honest review.

Megan Hart’s FLYING is a sizzling erotic escape into a weekend intriguing world of sexy and scandalous wanderlust—in order to hide from pain and memories; to be someone else with a different name, where no one knows your story, grief, or past.

Stella’s ex-husband worked with the airline; hence, as part of the divorce settlement she gets a free buddy pass to fly anywhere. She lives for those weekends, the sex, the desire, and the feeling of being wanted. Her son, nor her ex-husband have a clue of her secret life.

With a teenage son who spends weekends with his dad and his new younger wife, Stella is a free spirit to hop on plane, head to the airport bar, or lounge and hook up with strange men. She sets the mood from the time she gets off the plane—she has a good book always in the event nothing clicks, but she seldom has to pull out her second choice.

Of course, the seductress wants no real emotional attachment, nor will the man ever know the real person behind the sexy body, stilettos, and garter belt. (Reminds me of the psychologist gal on Mistresses, after she suffers from two traumatic events). Stella lives for the thrill as almost an obsession.

This behavior has been going on for some time; however, one man is different. Matt is complicated, but he wants more than a one night stand. However, needless to say he has baggage, as well (and we are not talking designer luggage here).

The first part of the book shows one side of Stella’s personality—however, as you get to know Stella and learn of her past, the raw emotion, you begin to sympathize with this character and she becomes likable. Really disliked Matt and thought he was very self-centered until more is uncovered about his past as well and loved the way Stella stood up to him.

Two complex people, both with a secret past—loss, tragedy, love, and pain. They both crave the life they had previously, until a tragedy occurred to change the course of their lives. A novel of overcoming one's demons, self-discovery and second chances.

This was my first book by Megan Hart, and really enjoyed her writing style. Yes, there was a lot of sexy erotic banter; however, FLYING has much depth and substance.

I started reading the e-book format; however, was traveling and also purchased the audiobook and the narrator, Abby Craden, offered a pleasant and sexy voice, keeping me entertained, and suspense high at all times--dying to learn what would happen next.

FLYING is a realistic story of human emotions--fate steps in and gives us people in our lives at just the right time, even under crazy circumstances.

A satisfying read, with a happy ending and some romance sizzle. I typically do not read a lot of romance or erotica; however, looking forward to reading more from this author. We all need an escape once in a while!
