As a long- time fan of talented author, Luanne Rice, THE NIGHT BEFORE, is a compelling e-short story of Lydia Madison (artist) and Sara Castillo (expectant mother working the lemon orchards).
This poignant short e-book highlights Black Hall and Hubbard’s Point series of novels, and reiterates love can survive no matter the obstacles.
A storm sweeps through a Christmas tree farm on the Connecticut Shoreline where a couple met. Sara’s baby (Isabel) is now grown, which lives with Lydia, when she met Danny, a worker on Lydia's Christmas tree farm, she hired five years previous, who had grown up on a tree farm in Nova Scotia (SILVER BELLS).
Isabel had come to Connecticut, the previous year after her twentieth birthday---after Sara had asked Lydia to take her in, due to a misfortune. The couple fell in love and planned to be married.
On the eve of a wedding by the edge of the sea, a once-in-a-lifetime storm sweeps through a family Christmas tree farm on the Connecticut Shoreline and sets in motion the events of The Night Before. A powerful story of the young couple about to get married, a mother and daughter three thousand miles apart, and best friends who could never forget one other (a heartwarming story).
Having had the opportunity of reading THE LEMON ORCHARD (coming 5/27/14), which I highly recommend as a 5 star read--- her latest love story between two people (Julia/Roberto) from seemingly different worlds.
SILVER BELLS-(Rice's classic novel)----On a quaint, snowy Chelsea street, librarian Catherine Tierney and a widowed Christmas tree seller from Nova Scotia rediscovered the magic of the season where they least expect it: in a chance encounter that leads to a holiday surprise of love and hope powerful enough to last a lifetime. (also a Hallmark Hall of Fame movie). A beautiful and special read--full of memories!
A special thanks to NetGalley for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

From bestselling author Luanne Rice—
a captivating and sexy novel of love,
both enduring and unexpected
Year after year, Luanne Rice’s fans eagerly await her next book.
Their enthusiasm is soon to be rewarded with The Lemon Orchard, Rice’s romantic new love story between two people from seemingly different worlds.
In the five years since Julia last visited her aunt and uncle’s home in Malibu, her life has been turned upside down by her daughter’s death. She expects to find nothing more than peace and solitude as she house-sits with only her dog, Bonnie, for company.
But she finds herself drawn to the handsome man who oversees the lemon orchard.
Roberto expertly tends the trees, using the money to support his extended Mexican family. What connection could these two people share? The answer comes as Roberto reveals the heartbreaking story of his own loss—a pain Julia knows all too well, but for one striking difference: Roberto’s daughter was lost but never found.
And despite the odds he cannot bear to give up hope.
Set in the sea and citrus-scented air of the breathtaking
Santa Monica Mountains,
The Lemon Orchard is an affirming story about the redemptive
power of compassion and the kind of love that seems
to find us when we need it most.
