It has been a while since I have read (or listened) to anything by Chevy Stevens, having read STILL MISSING and NEVER KNOWING, years ago - all thrillers!. 

ALWAYS WATCHING, featuring Nadine, a psychologist whose own past is as disturbing as the patients she treats. I listened to the audio version by Joyce Bean, which I am very familiar with from previous audio books.

Nadine, the main character comes from a horrifying background with an alcoholic father and an unstable mother. Now that she is a therapist, she confronts her past; however, some of her memories are blocked, as she begins to uncover secrets regarding the cult, in this suspenseful journey.

She helps others, when she cannot help her own daughter, yet when Heather, a suicidal patient is admitted, she is reminded of a similar story – will she confront her fears and demons, can she escape her past? When she learns Heather and her husband recently left the River of Spiritual Light Center (the commune lead by Aaron Quinn) the connection becomes front center with her time there as a teen with her mom and brother. 

As she realizes danger is near, she is forced to confront her traumatic childhood at the remote commune on Vancouver. Full of terror, power, manipulation, murder, intensity, suspense, and the power of buried childhood secrets---locked away as it crosses over to a nightmare of the dark side.
