Heather Gudenkauf’s LITTLE LIES is a short novella, a prequel for her upcoming riveting LITTLE MERCIES. A story of a social worker, Ellen—a woman who is balancing her personal and work life as a mother of three, husband, and a complex career.
Having read an ARC of LITTLE MERCIES (a 5-star winner), prior to LITTLE LIES. (I tend to start with the latest releases, and if I fall in love with the author, I dive into all their previous books; hence, here I am--as Heather has made it to my favorite author list!
Was so intrigued with Ellen, and wanted to go back to learn more about her life. LITTLE LIES introduces Ellen, as she gets called to assist with an investigation. A child has lost his mother in a brutal murder. The body was found beneath a park statue which is similar to a murder thirteen years ago—with a little boy left behind.
Full of suspense, both books can be standalone reads; however, highly recommend both books. Fans of Diane Chamberlain (First Lies/Necessary Lies), and Jodi Picoult (have read all their books), will devour.
I love novels featuring social workers, as they are so undervalued, with big responsibilities— making for an emotional, and gripping novel.
